a trip back to an... odd time.

Ah, 2004. See, I got into graphic design and all that nonsense around about 2003, but I got into the online graphic design community around 2004. This is where thing started to get serious for me. I was an impressionable young lad, looking everywhere for inspiration and guidance. But in 2004, all I remember was a huge trend leaning towards chaos in digital canvases.

It was odd. Arguably, this is probably why my work is still a huge mess, but I'm trying to get out of the habit. But not here! This is a little tribute to those times, to all the art groups who pushed the noble cause of FORGETTING ABOUT COMPOSITION, MEANING, COLOUR THEORY AND ALL THAT OTHER JAZZ.

So yeah, I pretty much just did what they did, went crazy, didn't care for composition, made it look as crazy as possible. It kinda looks terrible, but then again. It was meant to look like this, so it's all good, right? RIGHT?!

Also, big ups to `dholms. My first digital art love.

And in keeping with my own tradition, here is another version of the same thing. Because I hate everything I do after I do it and then I do something to it again and change it and then I hate everything even more, so ... If that wasn't too confusing, here's an uglier version.

Here's just a little exercise I gave myself, pick a random new product, make a poster for it.

Here's what I came up with, of course Motorola's existing ad campaign leans for the phones' "sophisticated sharp design". Something about Swiss technology and all that? YAWN.

Thought the phone looked like a freaking alien spaceship. So here it is, a phone out in space, with some cosmic-looking whackiness surrounding it.

This was very quickly done, needs to be finished, but I like posting WIPs and as always, click to view the full picture.

Also, here's a link to the high quality version. (Not high-res, mind you)

some forum signatures
Monday, October 26, 2009 @ 2:01 PM

This is a bunch of pretty old forum signatures I've done for a few friends over the past year or so. These are just tiny little images for fun, but they're good for some crazy Photoshoppery.

I took some pretty heavy copyright liberties on most of these, I own no rights to any of these, really, the stocks do not belong to me.

a few old things
@ 11:59 AM

Here's a bunch of experimental stuff I've done over the past six months or so, all of varying quality. Aesthetics wasn't a big thing for most of these. More concept, really.

'so say so' cd push
Thursday, July 23, 2009 @ 1:06 PM

Here's just a mock-up for a local band. They sound a lot like Sigur Ros sans European quirk but all the pretentiousness. I like 'em. anyway, they need a CD cover for their upcoming EP, so here was my first crack at it.

Here's one I did a while ago, commissioned by the Evita Group.
